Nvidia is broadening its GeForce Now gaming streaming service by adding compatibility with more platforms, including the Meta Quest 3, 3S, Pico, and notably, the Apple Vision Pro.
On Tuesday, Nvidia revealed that users with specific VR headset models will soon have the ability to stream games directly onto their devices. The Apple Vision Pro is included in this list of supported headsets.
However, it’s important to clarify that this doesn’t allow for streaming of VR-specific titles. Instead, users will engage with games in an Apple Vision Pro environment.
This experience allows players to enjoy their beloved games on a virtual screen that simulates being 100 feet wide. To benefit from this feature, a GeForce Now account is required along with accessing the service through an internet browser.
GeForce Now provides several subscription options. A free tier exists which includes advertisements and provides an opportunity for users to experience the platform without financial obligation. Beyond that are paid formats: the Performance tier for $9.99 per month or $49.99 every six months and the Ultimate tier at $19.99 monthly or $99.99 biannually.
Higher-level subscriptions offer enhanced advantages such as access to a broader selection of games, extended session durations, and expedited queuing times. Users will also benefit from streaming capabilities via superior hardware configurations.
While there isn’t a definitive launch date announced for this functionality yet, Nvidia indicates that gamers can begin streaming content through their headsets once app update version 2.0.70 goes live later in January.
Although playing GeForce Now titles on macOS has been possible since 2021, native support for Macs powered by Apple Silicon was introduced in April 2022.
The platform made its debut on iOS and iPadOS back in November 2020; it was particularly notable as it provided players access to Fortnite after its removal from Apple’s store due to Epic’s attempts at circumventing its commission fees in June 2020.
