IONNA Transitions to Full National Launch
Over 100 Charging Locations Secured Since February 2024
By the close of 2025, over 1,000 live charging bays will be operational, facilitating electric vehicle road trips across America.
IONNA, a collaborative initiative formed by major automotive manufacturers including BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Toyota has announced its shift from public beta testing to a comprehensive national rollout. This pivotal achievement signifies a landmark moment for electric vehicle infrastructure in the United States as eight leading automakers collaborate at the inaugural IONNA Rechargery located in Apex, North Carolina alongside their new headquarters and Customer Experience Lab in Durham.
Rigorous Testing Paves Way for Expansion
In late 2024, extensive trials conducted with various vehicle fleets and individual drivers put the IONNA network through its paces. Participants completed more than 4,400 charging sessions using over 80 different car models while utilizing nearly 63 thousand kilowatt-hours of energy in total. These insights have allowed IONNA to refine its hardware and software offerings as well as enhance customer engagement strategies in preparation for national-scale development.
Recently marking this new chapter of widespread availability brings forth an impressive roster of over 100 contracted sites across the country. Newly inaugurated Rechargeries can now be found opening up this week in Houston Texas and Abilene Kansas; another six locations are currently under construction including Willcox Arizona.
Expanding America’s Charging Landscape
Since its launch phase kicked off early last year—but inspired by generations of American road adventures—IONNA is dedicated to offering dependable service along with top-notch facilities for all drivers’ needs. With plans underway to incorporate more than an additional thousand charging stations by the end of next year (in total aiming for around 30 thousand across five years), they remain committed not only meet but exceed consumer demand whilst creating thousands of new jobs domestically through advanced manufacturing initiatives.

Starting Q1 of next year at Garner NC location; IONNA is set to unveil automated retail features driven by computer vision enabled through AI technology combined with sensor fusion advancements allowing quick “grab-and-go” options without conventional checkout delays thanks largely due collaboration efforts with Amazon featuring their premier Just Walk Out capabilities available round-the-clock providing easy access refreshments anytime patrons desire them during travels along long stretches highways or city routes alike!
