VinFast Expands Electric Vehicle Presence in Indonesia
Major Shipment Arrives at Jakarta Port
As of the time of this writing, the Silver Queen, VinFast’s specialized cargo vessel, has successfully docked in Jakarta to unload a remarkable shipment of 2,500 electric vehicles. This cargo originated from the company’s manufacturing facility located near Haiphong, Vietnam. Notably, the Silver Queen previously facilitated the transport of 999 VF 8 models to California back in 2022. This recent delivery marks VinFast’s fourth—yet largest—shipment to Indonesia since its entry into this dynamic market in February 2024.
Diverse Model Offering for Indonesian Market
The latest shipment includes four distinct vehicle models: VF 3, VF 5, VF e34, and Nerio Green—all specially designed with right-hand steering suitable for Indonesian drivers. VinFast plans to distribute these vehicles through local dealerships prior to the upcoming Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr) festivities.
Growing Market Presence and Customer Interest
VinFast acknowledges Indonesia as a key focus within its Southeast Asian growth strategy. Over just one year since launching operations there, the company has introduced three electric vehicle models and completed four substantial shipments while witnessing rising consumer interest levels. The VF 3 model notably gained traction during its unveiling at IIMS 2025, achieving record levels of test drives compared to other vehicles showcased at the event.
Incentives That Enhance Accessibility
To make electric vehicle ownership more appealing for consumers in Indonesia, VinFast has launched several incentives aimed at increasing accessibility. These include free charging services at V-GREEN stations until March 1st of 2028 and attractive cashback programs for early buyers alongside a buyback scheme that guarantees up to an impressive percentage (90%) of a vehicle’s original pricing upon repurchase.
Strategic Partnerships Supporting Operations
VinFast bolsters its operational endeavors in Indonesia through collaborations with GSM and V-GREEN. In December last year (2024), Xanh SM commenced services as an electric taxi provider utilizing VinFast’s cars. Meanwhile, V-GREEN plays a crucial role by developing necessary charging infrastructure tailored for their quickly expanding fleet across various urban landscapes.
A Vision Focused on Growth
Duong Thi Thu Trang—the Global Deputy CEO for Sales at VinFast—asserts that fiscal year 2025 is pivotal when it comes to strengthening their presence within Indonesia’s automotive landscape. The company is finalizing construction on a localized assembly facility while also aiming to boost sales by enhancing ecosystem support aligned with their diverse product range.
