Apple has unveiled an updated developer beta firmware for the AirPods Pro 2 ⁢and AirPods 4 models.

In a recent development, Apple rolled⁣ out a new developer beta firmware update specifically targeting the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods‍ 4; however,⁣ specific details about ⁤the contents of this update ‍remain undisclosed.

The latest developer ‍beta raises the build number to ‍7E5080a, marking an upgrade from the earlier version, 7E5067b, which was available since January 2025. This software release is applicable to both USB-C and Lightning variants of the aforementioned⁢ airpods but‌ does ‌not extend to other‍ models ‌like‌ the AirPods Max or devices lacking H2 chipsets.

Apple consistently launches periodic beta software updates across nearly all its platforms, including their line of ‌wireless audio devices. While betas⁣ for mobile (iOS) or desktop⁢ (macOS) operating systems emerge more frequently, developers utilize these‌ releases relating to AirPods⁢ for⁤ testing innovative functionalities⁣ prior to their official ⁤launch.

With its earlier version numbered as 7B19, Apple‍ brought Hearing Health features into focus within the AirPods⁢ Pro⁢ 2.‌ These advancements allow users not only to conduct hearing assessments but also enable functionality akin to that of a⁢ hearing aid ⁣suited for individuals experiencing mild to moderate hearing⁣ impairments. The last stable versions accessible by general users remain at revisions numbered as 7B20 and 7B21.

While precise information on Thursday’s developer beta⁣ remains elusive at this stage, it is anticipated that⁣ this ‍update predominantly⁣ includes essential bug fixes and enhancements in performance rather than introducing‍ novel ‌features or ‍capabilities. Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t released any accompanying documentation detailing ‍this particular ‍beta update’s‌ improvements.

How ⁤to‍ Install ⁢Beta Firmware ⁤on Your AirPods

Downloading ⁣and installing ⁤iOS or macOS beta versions is straightforward thanks to Apple’s user-friendly procedures; however, updating firmware on your AirPods requires a different approach.

To initiate this process effectively: You first need a ‌registered Apple Developer account—now offered free of charge. Upon⁣ registration, adhere strictly to these instructions:

  1. In your device’s Settings app under Privacy & Security section, ensure⁤ Developer Mode is activated.
  2. If it’s already active—or once you’ve turned it on—navigate back⁤ into Settings followed by selecting Developer options.
  3. Scroll down towards Pre-release‌ Beta Firmware found under ‍Tests specifically designated for⁤ your AirPod model(s).
  4. Select your desired pair ⁢of eligible airpods intended for enrollment in this test phase.

If you’re uncertain about any step during installation you can refer back to content provided‍ in video format ‍above—it ⁣shall assist you visually through this ⁢process.‍ Additionally be mindful⁤ that occasionally Developer⁢ Mode may fail ⁤initially in registration; if so connect your ⁢iPhone⁢ with an active Mac operating with current Xcode Beta installed nearby during setup attempts!
