Olectra Greentech’s Landmark Electric Bus Order with BYD
Indian electric bus manufacturer Olectra Greentech has made a significant acquisition of 2,325 electric bus chassis from BYD, citing the exceptional reputation of BYD’s Blade battery system. This innovative technology has demonstrated unmatched safety and performance through rigorous testing scenarios—including penetration by sharp objects and exposure to extreme heat—without any risk of fire or explosion. Since entering India’s electric bus scene in November 2017, BYD has seen its vehicles collectively travel over 335 million kilometers. One such vehicle has achieved an impressive mileage record of 678,109 kilometers—a notable feat for BYD Blade battery-powered fleets in India. The recent purchase order includes new models such as the K9, C9 and K7 with an addition of 50 units of the K7 chassis and 275 units of K9 chassis to complement their previous order from August last year.
State-owned transport systems across regions like Telangana and Kerala have started deploying these eco-friendly vehicles equipped with advanced lithium iron phosphate batteries that provide increased efficiency.
