It is unclear why the previous exec was being focused
Artemis Seaford, former security coverage supervisor at Meta, had been below surveillance by the Greek nationwide intelligence service for a whole yr utilizing commercially out there spyware often known as “Predator,” as shared by The New York Times.
According to the publication, Seaford’s telephone was bugged in September 2021. Seaford, who holds each Greek and US citizenship, is reportedly the primary recognized American citizen to be focused by the commercially out there spyware. She found that she had been spied on after her title appeared on a leaked listing of spyware targets within the Greek information media in November 2022. Between getting contaminated and realizing that her telephone had been bugged, Seaford was secretly below surveillance by the Greek nationwide intelligence service.
Seaford ultimately took her telephone to Citizen Lab, a digital analysis unit with the University of Toronto, which confirmed that her telephone had been contaminated with the malware.

It is unclear why Seaford was focused by the Greek nationwide intelligence service. The Greek authorities denies that it used spyware to hack and observe Seaford. A consultant from the federal government instructed the New York Times that “the Greek authorities and security services have at no time acquired or used the Predator surveillance software.” It added, “the alleged use of this software by nongovernmental parties is under ongoing judicial investigation.”
Seaford hopes that her story will encourage different victims of spyware abuse to communicate out. “I hope is this story will encourage other victims of spyware abuse to speak out. There are more of us out there, and our stories should be neither instrumentalized nor silenced,” tweeted Seaford. “We deserve better. Ultimately, we need our governments and EU bodies to protect us.”
