Victrola Expands Wireless Features for Premium Turntables
If you are the proud owner of a premium, Sonos-compatible turntable from Victrola’s recent lineup, there’s exciting news on the horizon that will enhance its functionality. Announced on Thursday, Victrola revealed that all its “Works with Sonos” vinyl turntables will soon support Bluetooth connectivity, Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), and high-fidelity Roon streaming via a forthcoming software update.
Enhanced Streaming Capabilities for Select Models
This software upgrade promises to significantly boost the streaming capabilities of popular models like the Stream Carbon, Pearl, and Onyx turntables. In addition to these models, Victrola’s ultra-luxurious Sapphire player—already equipped with these features—will also automatically receive the update. Users can easily access new options within their app where previously only default Sonos speaker settings were available.
A Turbulent Period for Sonos Sparks New Opportunities
A major mishap regarding an ill-timed update for the Sonos app back in May led to significant confusion and operational setbacks over several months. The fallout resulted in two substantial rounds of layoffs as well as the resignation of key leadership positions by January. While Victrola had previously introduced lower-cost alternatives without Sonos compatibility before this turmoil unfolded, one can speculate they observed this situation closely and decided it was time to revive their premium models’ wireless functionalities.
Commitment to Modern Audio Experiences
“This update reflects a substantial advancement in our mission to merge classic vinyl sounds with modern wireless technology,” stated Scott Hagen from Victrola in an official announcement. ”Our Victrola Stream series has consistently been the top choice for those invested in using Sonos; now we’re thrilled to broaden that seamless streaming experience across even more audio platforms. Vinyl enthusiasts can savor superior wireless adaptability without sacrificing quality.”
