In the previous year, global sales of plug-in vehicles reached an impressive total of 17.2 million units. Among these, pure battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for a significant share with approximately 10.8 million sold. This indicates that around 22% of all new vehicle sales were committed to plug-in options—translating to more than one in every five cars sold being electric.
