XPENG and NIO Conclude the Year with Remarkable Sales Growth

As 2024 wrapped up, electric vehicle manufacturers XPENG and NIO celebrated impressive milestones by achieving record-breaking sales in December.
XPENG’s Surge in Deliveries
XPENG recorded 36,695 deliveries last month, reflecting an astonishing rise of 82% compared to the same period last year. For the fourth quarter alone, the company reported a total of 91,507 deliveries—up by 52% from Q4 of 2023. December’s figures also represent a significant jump of 19%.
In total for the year, XPENG achieved 190,068 sales in 2024, marking a robust annual increase of 34%.
The remarkable performances can be attributed primarily to two newly launched models—the MONA M03 and P7+. The MONA M03 alone garnered over 15,000 sales in December while the P7+ contributed more than 10,000. Notably, during its first four months on the market, MONA M03 exceeded production goals with over 50,000 units, establishing itself as one of XPENG’s fastest-selling vehicles to date.
To put it into perspective: should these numbers maintain their pace throughout the year ahead—the December totals would project yearly sales approaching 440 thousand vehicles. However, as things often slow down due to seasonal factors like Chinese New Year celebrations impacting sales trends historically observed at this time of year; it remains uncertain whether XPENG can sustain this impressive trajectory into 2025.
NIO’s Impressive Growth Metrics
Meanwhile, NIO also showcased strong performance figures for December: selling 31,138 units—an increase of 72.9% compared to December 2023. Consequently this led them to accumulate a total of 72,689 deliveries for Q4—a substantial rise (+45.2%) over last year’s fourth quarter performance.
While slightly trailing behind its rival regarding growth percentages achieved during that month or quarter; overall metrics revealed that for all twelve months combined until now; NIO surpassed rivals with an outstanding annual number reaching around 221 thousand vehicle sales—a growth rate higher than USD’s yearly stats coming from ONVO brand productions which significantly bolstered their results alongside traditional counts conducted through foundational brands (with ONVO contributing 10K additional vehicles).
