Geely Philippines Launches Its Premier All-Electric Model: The EX5
Just last week, Geely Motors Philippines (GMP) unveiled its inaugural all-electric vehicle, the EX5. This launch is a crucial element of GMP’s overarching initiative to solidify its market position in the Philippines while transitioning operations from its Hangzhou headquarters.
The EX5: A Leap into Electric Mobility
The EX5 is pivotal in Geely’s commitment to electric mobility. It showcases innovative features such as a “Short Blade Battery” and comprehensive driver-assistance technologies. Built upon Geely’s global GEA platform, this model underscores their dedication to smart and electric driving solutions. Set for release between April and May 2025, the EX5 will commence at a price point of P1.79 million ($30,900), with reservations now open.
Future Expansion Plans
As articulated by Will Wan, the President of Geely’s Philippine division: “Our plans include launching a new model each quarter throughout 2025.” This strategy consists of introducing battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrids, and traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models—reflecting an awareness of the evolving Philippine automotive landscape and consumers’ diverse powertrain preferences.
Model Refresh and Competitive Edge
Simultaneously with introducing the EX5, Geely has revamped both the Coolray subcompact crossover SUV and Emgrand subcompact sedan to maintain competitive relevance in their segments.
A Commitment to Quality Service
The recent actions taken by Geely indicate their robust intent to bolster not only their product offerings but also their dealership network and customer service initiatives in the region—a strategic long-term commitment to Filipino drivers.
An Impressive Electric Compact SUV
The EX5 accelerates from 0–100 km/h in approximately 6.9 seconds thanks largely to its powerful motor delivering an impressive output of 217 horsepower paired with a torque figure of 320 Nm—ensuring an invigorating driving experience right off the bat.
Sleek Design Meets Advanced Technology
This vehicle measures at an extended length of 4,615 mm with significant interior dimensions that guarantee comfort for all five passengers. The high-tech cabin includes a strikingly large 15.4-inch HD touchscreen infotainment display along with a secondary digital instrument cluster measuring at ten inches—the “Flyme Auto” operating system optimizes user interaction across these systems while offering stylish ambient lighting options as well as accessibility features like panoramic sunroofs.
Cutting-edge Safety Features Integrated
The technology embedded within the EX5 extends further into safety realms—with modern Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) that incorporate lane departure alerts, blind spot detection capabilities alongside adaptive cruise control systems supported by an all-encompassing 360-degree camera system for enhanced visibility during navigation.
A New Era Under Direct Oversight from Hangzhou Headquarters
Evolving its operations directly from Hangzhou marks yet another milestone for Geely after previously partnering locally with Sojitz; this shift symbolizes greater autonomy over brand management following notable successes since debuting back in September 2019 with overwhelming reception primarily due to Coolray’s exceptional performance metrics compared against peers within similar categories—but struggles arose around parts supplies leading them towards strained relations toward customers thereafter resulting initially dire concerns surrounding possible brand collapse amidst numerous complaints reported across social media platforms necessitating remedial action taken back home at HQ where top-level personnel commenced direct leadership oversight through establishment newly formed company termed ‘Geely Motors Philippines’
(A major development was facilitating repairs through consolidating resources via construction investment worth expanding capacity towards adequate servicing solutions ensuring timely access genuine replacement components via new logistics center established spanning roughly forty-seven-hundred square-meters facility located Cabuyao Laguna about sixty-kilometers south Metro Manila while concurrently launching promotional initiative titled ‘Goe’ aimed synchronizing sales support frameworks encompassing aftersales strategies boosting overall client experiences subsequent transitions taking place over course remaining years ahead)
