Surgent Studios Teams Up with Pocketpair for a Horror Game Launching in 2025
Surgent Studios, known for its acclaimed title “Tales of Kenzera: Zau,” is collaborating with Pocketpair Publishing, the newly established publishing branch of Pocketpair—which is already behind hits like ”Palworld” and “Craftopia.” The upcoming project represents an exciting venture into the horror genre, slated for a 2025 release.
Innovative Directions Amid Ongoing Projects
While Surgent continues discussions about Project Uso, which was unveiled in October 2024, and other initiatives set within the expansive Tales of Kenzera narrative universe, this new horror game marks a significant departure from their previous themes. Founded by actor Abubakar Salim from “House of the Dragon,” Surgent is eager to explore fresh creative territory.
This anticipated title will not tie into any existing framework within the Tales of Kenzera series. “We’re taking a bold step away,” stated representatives from both studios.
A Unique Vision for Gaming
Abubakar Salim, CEO of Surgent Studios, expressed his enthusiasm regarding this collaboration: “Both our team and Pocketpair thrive on innovation. We’ve recognized emerging trends in entertainment that inspired us to create this horror experience. It will be brief yet bizarre; we believe gamers will resonate with our approach.”
A New Benchmark in Gaming Experience
Salim also emphasized that while conversations about expanding Tales of Kenzera continue fervently, this new title serves as “a significant milestone reflecting our journey thus far and indicating where we are headed next.”
Pocketpair’s Commitment to Creative Growth
John Buckley, Head of Pocketpair Publishing noted his concerns regarding funding challenges facing many games today. He stated: “The gaming industry is growing rapidly; however many exceptional projects often fail to secure financial backing or approval due to various barriers.” He lamented this reality given the remarkable talent and innovative ideas present among creators yearning for support.
Buckley elaborated on how they were immediately drawn to Abubakar’s original idea as a unique exploration within the horror landscape: “Our aim at Pocketpair Publishing is clear—support passionate creators who aspire to offer thrilling gaming experiences globally.”
Looking Ahead Towards Release Day
The much-anticipated unveiling of this game promises intrigue and innovation when it launches later this year.
