Transforming Data Centers: Announcing the Next Generation of Cisco UCS Servers
Cisco and Intel have long collaborated to push the boundaries of technological progress for contemporary businesses. Today, we’re thrilled to unveil an advanced era in data center enhancement: introducing the 8th generation Cisco UCS C-Series and X-Series servers, now equipped with Intel Xeon 6 processors.
Commitment to Advanced Infrastructure
At Cisco, our mission is centered on delivering an infrastructure that is not just scalable, secure, but also high-performing. This latest release empowers our customers with boosted computational capabilities, AI enhancements, and optimized efficiency across intensive workloads including AI-driven analytics and hybrid cloud services. By teaming up with Intel, we are enabling enterprises to handle critical tasks more effectively and intelligently.
Diverse Options for Modern Needs
Customers seeking flexibility in their computing solutions will find plenty of it in our newly launched UCS C-Series and X-Series servers (See Figure 1). These next-generation servers now support Enterprise Data Center Solid State Drives (SSD) Form Factor (EDSFF) E3.S Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) SSDs. These new drives promise not only performance improvements but also better thermal management and denser storage options. Traditional Small Form Factor (SFF) drives remain available as well for varied local storage needs, along with larger capacity models designed for budget-friendly high-storage solutions.

Unmatched Processor Performance
The newly released Intel Xeon 6 processors significantly enhance server performance by offering up to 86 cores per socket. They feature a substantial Layer 3 cache capacity paired with low-latency access while supporting eight memory channels that optimize overall server functionality. The integration of fast Double Data Rate 5 (DDR5) memory—including top-speed DDR5-6400—ensures exceptional bandwidth capabilities.
The platforms comprising both UCS series models—such as the UCS C220 M8 Rack Server and the UCS C240 M8 Rack Server along with the UCS X210c M8 Compute Node—continue incorporating modular tri-mode RAID controllers compatible with SAS/SATA HDDs/SSDs as well as U.3 NVMe SSDs aimed at enhancing speed while maintaining efficiency through fault tolerance in both data centers and enterprise contexts.

Scalable Solutions for Enhanced Performance
The innovations embodied in the UCS X-Series include optional Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) node connectivity which provides additional GPU support. This expansion capability allows organizations to scale efficiently alongside enhanced user experiences or application responsiveness; notably, pairing a UCX210c M8 Compute Node with a corresponding USP440p PCIe Node supports integration of up to four GPUs.
Additions such as hot-swappable M.2 SATA SSD capability within NASA’s ongoing efforts ensure better serviceability relative to boot drives while allowing storage expansions within enterprise settings effectively.
A Word from Leadership
“The combination of Cisco’s innovative approach along with next-gen Xeon technology turbocharges performance while greatly improving AI processing,” remarks Jeremy Foster, Senior Vice President & General Manager at Cisco Compute.
