Extended Support Framework Explained
As outlined by Qualcomm, “This initiative signifies that OEMs will receive access to platform software support as part of this program for eight successive years. This includes updates for both the Android OS and kernel enhancements without necessitating extensive modifications or upgrades to the underlying platform or OEM-specific code on devices—often referred to as ‘Project Treble’ or ‘vendor implementation.’ While any kernel adjustments will necessitate updates for kernel-mode drivers, the vendor code can remain static during this ongoing software support.”
