In a strategic move to boost excitement for the new season, Apple is temporarily offering its hit series “Severance” on the Roku Channel.
The acclaimed workplace thriller “Severance” will return to streaming services on January 17. To enhance viewer engagement, Apple is enabling Roku users to catch up with the show in advance.
As part of this unique experience, viewers can access the inaugural season in its entirety on the Roku Channel through an ”exclusive fan experience,” available now until January 19. Additionally, audiences will get a sneak peek into Season 2 and exclusive behind-the-scenes material as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Roku users will also have access to a complimentary three-month trial of Apple TV+, making it easier than ever to dive into this critically acclaimed series.
This promotional strategy places Apple’s content front and center on the Roku home screen, sending a powerful message given Roku’s substantial user base of around 90 million individuals. It represents a significant opportunity for Apple’s subscriber growth initiatives.
Sweta Patel, vice president of growth marketing and merchandising at Roku, expressed her enthusiasm saying, “Collaborating with Apple ahead of such an eagerly awaited release like Severance Season 2 allows us to offer something truly special tailored for millions of households in America—making premium content accessible outside traditional platforms.”
She further noted that “the strength of our platform lies in our ability to create custom experiences that resonate with viewers while fulfilling our partners’ objectives.”
Following this effort comes after Apple’s recent free access weekend for their service overall. Moreover, they are also broadening their distribution channels by partnering with Amazon Prime Video Channels.
