Introducing the ShiftCam Planck: The Compact Solution for Mobile ‌Storage

ShiftCam has ‌unveiled the Planck, which it claims to be “the most ‌diminutive‍ portable SSD in existence,” and it certainly lives up to that description. Its innovative USB-C design allows for ⁣seamless attachment⁤ underneath an iPhone Pro, offering users a convenient way to save up to 2 TB ⁢of high-quality ProRes video as they record.

The ⁢ShiftCam Planck:⁣ Tailored for iPhone Users

With every iPhone 15/16 Pro model capable of capturing high-resolution ProRes video, performance-with-the-new-compact-ssd/” title=”Unleash Your Creativity: Experience Professional-Grade Performance with the New Compact SSD!”>direct recording becomes essential. However,‍ conventional ‍SSDs can ⁣prove unwieldy when connected directly. The ShiftCam Planck’s unique design positions its USB-C connector along ‌one side rather than at the end—streamlining functionality and ⁣efficiency.

The⁢ device is‍ ingeniously ⁤crafted to feel‍ virtually nonexistent in⁤ your palm⁤ while shooting or it can easily slip into your pocket when on the ⁤go. Its dimensions are impressively compact ⁢at just 2 inches by ⁢0.7 inches by 0.3 inches (50mm x 17mm x‍ 7.8mm).

Performance ⁣You Can Rely⁤ On

The SSD supports ‌significant performance capabilities, with USB 3.2 Gen 2 enabling data transfer speeds⁣ as high as⁢ 1050 MB/s necessary for recording in stunning‌ detail—up to 70 minutes of ProRes at a rate⁤ of 4K60 or about 45 minutes ⁢at an incredible rate of up to 120 FPS.

While primarily designed for use with iPhone models like the ⁢latest offerings ⁢from Apple, the ShiftCam Planck is compatible with an assortment of devices equipped with USB-C ports, including various Mac computers and many models within Apple’s iPad lineup.

Durability ⁤Meets Design

The device’s construction promises resilience and reliability; according to⁣ ShiftCam, “Built from premium ⁢aluminum‍ coupled with robust shockproof plastic,” the Planck boasts⁣ water resistance ⁣and dust-proofing features while enduring falls from heights up to three meters ⁣(10 feet), ensuring that precious ⁣files remain safeguarded during rugged outdoor activities.

A Kickstart on Kickstarter

To bring this‌ ingenious product into ‌reality, ShiftCam has ⁤initiated a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Initially‍ available for pre-order at $125 for the base model featuring a capacity of 1TB—which will retail ⁣at ⁣$189 once officially released—and $199 for double that storage compared to its ⁢standard price tag of $299 post-launch.

This Kickstarter campaign launched just recently on Wednesday exceeded its funding goals almost immediately; ‌thus confirming production plans are underway with shipments expected around May.

A Competitor Emerges

A similar innovation‌ comes from SanDisk; their Creator ‌Phone ‌SSD attaches magnetically‌ onto‍ an iPhone’s back while capturing ProRes video content—a ⁢product also ⁣slated for release later this spring.
