Introducing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
The long-awaited final reveal at The Game Awards was none other than Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Crafted by the acclaimed studio Naughty Dog, this title unfolds within a vibrant space opera setting that radiates a distinct futurepunk aesthetic, reminiscent of classics like Cowboy Bebop. This connection is particularly highlighted by Neil Druckmann, the game’s director and head of Naughty Dog, who shared insights on their official site about the storyline centering on a space bounty hunter.
About the Game
Naughty Dog has provided an intriguing glimpse into the game through their YouTube trailer description:
Set in an era thousands of years ahead, Intergalactic immerses players into the life of Jordan A. Mun, an audacious bounty hunter who mysteriously finds herself on Sempiria—a remote planet that cut ties with outer space centuries ago. To escape its orbit and become the first individual to do so in 600 years, Jordan must rely on her cunning abilities and resourcefulness.
A Star-Studded Cast
Tati Gabrielle takes center stage as Jordan A. Mun; she is well-known for her role as Prudence Night in Netflix’s series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Interestingly enough, Gabrielle also featured in another project from Naughty Dog—portraying Jo Braddock in the film adaptation of Uncharted. In addition, comedian Kumail Nanjiani will make a brief yet memorable appearance as Jordan’s target bounty.
A Musical Collaboration Like No Other
Druckmann concluded his announcement with electrifying news regarding the soundtrack for Intergalactic—powerhouses Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have temporarily shifted focus from their acclaimed movie scores to undertake this unique musical project for the game.
Status and Expectations
While there is currently no confirmed release date available for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, it is actively being developed exclusively for PlayStation 5.
