Jam City Transfers ⁣Ownership ⁣of Ludia Studio to Canadian Investment Group

Jam City has announced its decision to‌ divest the Montreal-based Ludia mobile ‌game ⁤studio along with its associated titles to a consortium of institutional investors from Canada.

A Strategic Move Towards Independence

The‌ transaction was initiated by a robust offer from the investment group, despite Jam City’s lack ⁤of intent to ⁣pursue a sale actively. As one of ten global entities under Jam City’s umbrella, this transition is not anticipated to significantly alter the company’s overall trajectory.

Jam City remains dedicated to its primary‌ offerings, which feature popular casual narrative and puzzle-style premium games. The schedule⁢ for new game releases planned for 2025 and ⁣2026 ⁢will proceed as outlined, reflecting the company’s commitment ⁤during this transition phase. Furthermore, Jam City aims for a seamless handoff for the Ludia team.

Praising ⁣Innovation in Gaming

Josh Yguado, co-founder and ⁢CEO of Jam City, expressed pride in‍ Ludia’s exceptional team and their contribution to mid-core gaming⁣ and ⁤augmented reality innovations. ⁣”We believe deeply in Ludia’s ⁤creative potential and are excited about what lies ahead for‌ them,” he stated.

Ludia’s Future Under New Leadership

The leadership structure at Ludia will see around 130 employees moving under CEO Jimmy‍ Gendron’s guidance as it operates independently from its headquarters in Montreal. A small segment of staff focused on supporting existing Jam⁤ City projects will stay on board with Jam City following the acquisition.

Gendron shared his appreciation: “We extend our ⁣heartfelt thanks to ‍our colleagues at Jam City for their ongoing support throughout this journey. This change marks an⁣ exciting new era where we can harness fresh‍ opportunities ‍while continuing our growth as an ⁣independent entity.”

Financial Performance Highlights

Jam City’s portfolio includes hit games like Cookie Jam⁤ and Panda Pop, collectively amassing impressive figures with over ⁢$4 billion in revenue‍ and‍ approximately 1.5 billion downloads globally.

A Review Under Regulatory Scrutiny

The agreement reached is‌ now pending review by the Canadian Competition Bureau before progressing further.

A Legacy Continues Post-Acquisition

Ludia was acquired by Jam ‍City back in September 2021 for $165‌ million. Since then, it has launched notable titles⁤ such as DC Heroes &⁢ Villains—a ⁣match-3 puzzle RPG released in ⁢2021—as well as DreamWorks Dragons: Titan Uprising and ⁤Jurassic World: Alive among others.
