In a recent event held in Wolfsburg, Germany, Volkswagen lifted the veil on its forthcoming budget-friendly electric vehicle (EV), known as the ID.EVERY1. Marketed as an “intelligent, adaptable, and economical” EV designed for the general populace—particularly those residing in Europe—this model is anticipated to have a starting price of approximately €20,000 (about $21,583) when it hits the market in 2027.
A New Modular Platform for Versatile Electric Vehicles
The ID.EVERY1 expands on Volkswagen’s lineup that includes both the ID.2all and a sportier variant of the ID.GTI. All these models are built upon Volkswagen’s MEB modular platform, engineered to accommodate a wide range of vehicles from compact options like the ID.EVERY1 to larger SUVs. By 2027, VW aims to launch four electric models utilizing this front-wheel-drive platform.
Pioneering Software Architecture Innovation
Volkswagen also highlighted that the ID.EVERY1 will be its inaugural vehicle powered by an innovative software architecture developed through its $5 billion partnership with Rivian established last year. Although details remain scarce regarding this potentially Rivian-based platform, VW suggests it enhances future-proofing capabilities for their vehicles by enabling ongoing upgrades and new functionalities throughout their lifespan.

The concept boasts a top speed exceeding 80 mph (130 km/h), powered by a robust 70 kW (94 horsepower) electric motor while offering an estimated driving range of at least 155 miles (250 km). Additionally, with its compact design measuring just 12.7 feet in length—falling between VW’s discontinued up! at 11.8 feet and nearly at par with the larger ID.2all at 13.3 feet—the vehicle provides ample space for up to four passengers along with a cargo capacity reaching up to 10.8 cubic feet.
