Delay in Apple’s Smart Hub Launch: Insights from Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo

Conceptual illustration of a HomePod featuring a display

According to ⁣esteemed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the launch of Apple’s anticipated smart hub device⁣ will not occur until after the WWDC event in June 2025.

Often referred to as either a Home Hub or an enhanced ‍HomePod with display capabilities, this innovative device is designed to serve as an ⁣intelligent home management ‌system, potentially resembling an⁤ iPad. The first indications ⁢of this ‌new gadget appeared in‌ February ⁣2024 when code references were detected, ‍and⁤ reports suggest that Apple⁢ selected‍ its ⁣display manufacturing partner back in January ‌2025.

Despite multiple forecasts regarding its release ⁣timeline, one clear trend persists: the⁢ device consistently‌ seems to be at least six months away from market readiness. Recent ⁢sources⁣ now speculate that it may not arrive until ⁣late 2025. Supporting this view, Kuo reiterated on Twitter that ongoing software development challenges are contributing to these delays.

“Three months ago,” Kuo⁢ stated, “I⁢ estimated that mass production for the new ‌screen-integrated HomePod would shift from Q1⁤ 2025 to ‍Q3 2025 (post-WWDC)⁤ due to software-related hurdles.” He highlighted ‍additional complications concerning ⁣ensuring⁣ the gadget’s interface aligns seamlessly with upcoming OS updates—such⁣ as iOS 19—which⁤ is expected across Apple’s‍ range by late 2025.

Kuo concluded his remarks by⁤ stating, “This synchronization is crucial for flawless ⁢integration into Apple’s⁢ ecosystem.”

Apple ‍has acknowledged setbacks involving certain features within Siri ‍related to ⁣Apple Intelligence and ⁤is reportedly preparing substantial ‍redesigns⁢ for both ‍iOS and macOS slated for⁤ WWDC⁣ 2025 announcement.

Consequently, it’s plausible that efforts surrounding the software of‌ the smart hub‌ have been delayed while Apple’s developers are engrossed with projects⁢ like⁤ Apple Intelligence and new versions of their ⁣operating ‌systems. It would indeed be strange if such an advanced product debuted running on iOS 18 while significant updates arrive⁤ shortly after with iOS 19.

However, labeling Apple’s schedule‍ as having postponed the Home Hub launch ⁤beyond WWDC raises questions about timing; although ⁢iOS ‌will be showcased mid-year, it won’t‌ reach consumers ⁤until September or possibly October.

Kuo also indicated earlier that the‍ product may ship within Q3 which concludes on ⁣September 30th, implying instead that ⁣if they release components needing beta testing software—it could align⁣ closely around quarter-end ‍launches.

It’s worth noting that this timing‌ coincides with announcements surrounding the anticipated iPhone ⁢17 series. Typically during⁤ such events where products like Apple Watch gain visibility⁢ alongside new devices; thus there’s potential for synergy between these ⁣launches — perhaps even ⁣introducing readers to ‌both products simultaneously!

However—considering all factors—the spotlight during such reveals could primarily fall‌ on showcasing a more streamlined ⁣version known as⁤ ‘iPhone Slim.’ Thus attention may‍ divert away from⁣ other imminent releases‌ like our rumored HomeHub⁤ representation!⁣

While Kuo has been predicting developments regarding screen-equipped models since early last year ⁢- despite his ‌established reputation over ⁤time; there’s been uncertainty lately about whether his ⁣claims stem solely from speculation rather than concrete information ‍backing them fully!
