Recent reports suggest a marked transformation in the chassis design of the upcoming iPhone 17 series, indicating it will diverge significantly from its predecessors.
While Apple leaks often lack concrete evidence, recent disclosures seem to corroborate previous assertions about the iPhone 17’s design. For instance, prior speculation indicated that at least one model in the series would introduce a novel arrangement for its camera system.
Renowned leaker “Digital Chat Station,” sharing insights on Weibo—a popular Chinese social platform—asserts that notable redesigns are indeed underway. The vocabulary used ranges from minor adjustments to significant alterations and even grand changes.
This particular leak points out that a model dubbed as the iPhone 17 Air is set to feature its cameras aligned along a horizontal bar. Similarly, Pro variants will showcase an enlarged yet horizontal camera configuration.
This aligns with earlier rumors; notably one shared by ”Digital Chat Station,” while another hinted at potential modifications concerning a frame designed for an open layout tailored for camera placement within the iPhone 17 chassis.
Additionally, speculative claims emerged back in November 2024 suggesting changes not only in aesthetics but also materials. That report implied that instead of titanium finishes for the Pro models, Apple might pivot towards a composite structure made of aluminum and glass—though this was later contested by alternative sources.
The same November rumor indicated possibilities for an exaggerated rectangular camera protrusion but remained vague on specifics as far as sizing or functionalities were concerned.
These rumors originated from The Information; however, their reliability remains uncertain. In contrast, “Digital Chat Station” has provided accurate insights historically regarding camera specifications.
Other leaks have surfaced recently echoing similar themes concerning alterations in design pertaining to camera placements. Despite some inconsistencies across various reports and less credible origins attempting similar claims, there lies growing credibility among emerging details.
