The launch ⁤of two distinct models of ‌AirPods 4 by Apple in September 2024 has⁢ transformed the company’s⁤ audio accessory range considerably, possibly marking a strategic brilliance on their part.

Though the ⁢AirPods Pro 2 ⁤and AirPods Max remain at the pinnacle of Apple’s audio offerings, ‍their high price tags⁢ make them less ⁣accessible for many consumers. For countless individuals seeking a new pair of earbuds, the introduction of AirPods 4 is an‍ ideal solution. The standard model and⁣ particularly the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) variant may just be the most suitable ⁢wireless earbuds options available today — including⁢ for me.

Having extensively tested both versions — standard and ANC⁣ — since their recent release, I’ve utilized them for hours listening to music, podcasts, ⁣and‌ audiobooks. Initially thinking I ⁤would prefer the ANC ‍model more, I was surprised to find it overshadowing my experience with AirPods Pro ‍2.

Currently, I have no intentions to revert⁢ back to using my ⁣previous pair either. ⁤This comprehensive review won’t delve into every⁣ technical specification or ⁢detail—as that can be found in our initial overview—but will ⁤focus⁤ instead on why these new AirPods⁣ have ⁣become my go-to choice over recent‍ months.

Choosing Between Two Models: Standard vs. ANC

Potential buyers eyeing a fresh set of ‍AirPods must decide which version ‌best suits their needs. While active noise cancellation stands out as the primary distinction ⁤between models, it’s certainly not an isolated feature.

A significant difference that could affect your ‍decision involves charging convenience; only the ANC variant ⁤supports wireless charging while its standard ⁤counterpart relies solely on ⁤USB-C ⁤connectivity. This⁤ might seem trivial‌ to some users; ⁢however, if you opt for wireless charging compatibility you’re naturally inclined toward enhanced features like ANC as ‌well—making ⁤it an ⁣easier choice if both functionalities appeal to you.

Among other enticing features⁢ exclusive to the ANC model are adaptive audio technology that adjusts noise cancellation levels based on different ⁤environments and Conversational Awareness ‍mode that reduces volume automatically when it detects speech—allowing seamless conversations without interruption.

Of course, additional⁤ features mean higher ⁢costs: Standard AirPods retail at $129 while those with ANC come ⁢in at $179—a considerable⁤ saving⁣ compared with $249 for AirPods Pro 2. ‍As retailers frequently offer promotions affecting all models within this lineup right⁤ now makes choosing ⁢even more compelling for buyers concerned⁣ about ⁤value versus budget constraints.

A Notable Design Evolution

My preference previously leaned toward using AirPods Pro⁢ not only due to superior sound quality but also because they‌ were better‍ suited anatomically speaking; ‌regular⁤ models just didn’t feel‌ secure enough in my ears—and this created discomfort fearing they could easily fall out during movement.

AirPods 4 laid on a⁤ desk.

The upgraded design aims specifically at enhancing ⁢fit and comfort.

I never ⁣had high expectations when receiving Apple’s latest ⁢offering late last year after limited earlier exposure during press previews lacked genuine testing⁢ conditions necessary before ⁣arriving at worthwhile conclusions ‍regarding⁢ real-world use cases!

The experience was surprisingly‌ positive; despite being‌ slightly less secure than previous versions—the design change evidently improved stability significantly!
