Huawei has launched its unique tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT Ultimate, in international markets at a premium price of €3,500. A notable concern regarding this innovative device is the exposed area of the foldable display near one of its hinges. To address potential user worries, Huawei has committed to providing complimentary screen replacements for any damage that occurs within the first year of ownership.
This announcement was confirmed by Huawei representatives during our meeting after the phone’s global presentation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Design and Display Innovations
The Mate XT Ultimate boasts a tri-foldable LTPO OLED display manufactured by BOE. When fully extended as a tablet, it features an impressive diagonal measurement of 10.2 inches. Folding back the leftmost section reduces this size to 7.9 inches and transforms it into a compact 6.4-inch smartphone when completely folded.
Specifications That Impress
This global edition is equipped with an ample 16 GB RAM and offers an expansive storage capacity of 1 TB. Notably, when unfolded, this sleek device measures only 3.6 mm in thickness—a remarkable engineering achievement.

During our hands-on experience with the Mate XT in Kuala Lumpur, we captured several camera samples which are available for review here. While camera performance might not have been at the forefront of design objectives for Huawei’s team when developing this luxury device, it’s reassuring to see that its photographic capabilities align well with industry standards—particularly essential given its high price point.
