Users engaging with the beta iteration of WhatsApp on their Android devices may have noticed an exciting new functionality that enables members within group conversations to assign personal labels. This enhancement was identified in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.4.3.
Enhancing Clarity with Personalized Labels
As reported by WAbetainfo, this innovative feature allows individuals to “designate their role” in group discussions through a labeling system, which improves communication clarity and fosters a sense of personalization among users. It’s noteworthy that these assigned labels will be specific to each particular group chat; they won’t transfer across other groups the user may belong to. Furthermore, WhatsApp is expected to propose default labels such as “team leader” or similar roles, although customization options should remain available.

While there hasn’t been an announced release date for this feature as of now, anticipation suggests its availability could come soon within the next few months. Not long ago, an APK analysis hinted at Google potentially developing a method to link WhatsApp video calls with individual RCS chats on Android devices.
