## A Game-Changer in Portable Storage
ShiftCam dubs the Planck “the most compact portable SSD on the market,” and it certainly lives up to that claim. Its cleverly designed USB-C connection allows the drive to attach snugly at the base of an iPhone Pro, enabling seamless recordings of high-quality, high-resolution ProRes video—up to a remarkable 2 TB capacity.
This innovative accessory is set to debut shortly and is currently being showcased at CES 2025.
## Tailored for iPhone Users
While only the iPhone 15 and 16 Pro models can record stunningly clear ProRes videos natively onto external storage, using traditional SSDs can often create logistical hurdles. The unique positioning of the USB-C plug on the Side field makes ShiftCam’s offering much more user-friendly compared to conventional models.
“Our goal with Planck was to dismantle traditional storage barriers,” shared Benson Chiu, CEO of ShiftCam. “We aimed for a product that’s not just exceedingly portable but also powerful enough that it seamlessly integrates into any creator’s process without becoming a burden.”
With impressive data transfer rates reaching up to 1050 MB/s, it supports capturing demanding formats like 4K video at an astounding frame rate of 120 FPS.
## Universal Compatibility & Rugged Durability
Although optimally engineered for attaching directly to either an iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 Pro or Max, users will be pleased to know that this versatile SSD can also connect effortlessly with any computer equipped with a USB-C port—including Macs as well as many models in Apple’s iPad lineup.
Additionally, durability appears central in its design philosophy: “The device boasts drop-proof construction and IP65-rated water resistance—a reliable companion capable of enduring any creative endeavor,” claims ShiftCam.
### Launch Details & Competitive Landscape
Residents seeking innovative storage solutions can anticipate launching on Kickstarter in early February; prospective buyers will find pricing options at $125 for a model housing one terabyte (1TB) and $199 for those desiring two terabytes (2TB). Following this crowdfunding initiative, general market availability is expected by springtime in April; thereafter retail prices are slated at $189 per TB unit and $299 per dual-TB edition.
In comparison remains SanDisk’s recently unveiled Creator Phone SSD—a similar concept enabling magnetic attachment onto an iPhone during recording sessions—also exhibited amidst CES festivities this week in Las Vegas.
Unquestionably, both innovations mark significant steps forward within mobile technology spheres tailored towards content creators eager for efficiency without sacrificing quality during their productions.
