Apple Celebrates Black History Month with the 2025 Black Unity Collection
On Monday, Apple debuted its 2025 Black Unity Collection in celebration of Black History Month this coming February. This exciting new collection features exclusive wallpapers for iPhone and iPad, a unique watch face for the Apple Watch, and a special edition of the Apple Watch’s Black Unity Sport Loop band.
A Fusion of Colors Symbolizing Unity
The 2025 Black Unity Collection highlights the black, green, and red hues found in the Pan-African flag under a theme termed “Unity Rhythm.” The standout piece, the Black Unity Sport Loop band, is intricately woven to create an eye-catching lenticular effect that allows it to display red on one side while showcasing green on the other. As users move their wrists, shades of yellow emerge during transitions between these colors—an enchanting visual change that feels almost magical. This innovative band retails for $49 at the Apple Store.

Innovative Features: The Rhythm Watch Face
Complementing the sport loop is Apple’s newly designed “Unity Rhythm” watch face which showcases numerals formed from intertwined threads colored in red, green, and yellow. Each time users glance at their watches by raising them to view time—these threads morph into numbers before users’ eyes. To enhance its charm further, this watch face emits a rhythmic chime every hour and half hour.
Custom Wallpapers for Your Devices
For those using iPhones or iPads, custom wallpapers featuring vibrant letters spelling out “Unity,” adorned in red, green, and yellow will be available as part of this collection. Anticipated through an upcoming software update are both these dynamic wallpapers and an upgrade to the watch face’s functionality. Recently released beta versions include iOS and iPadOS 18.3 along with watchOS 11.3 candidates which suggest that full updates—including access to elements of this inspiring collection—could come as early as this week.
