XMG Pro 16 Studio (Mid 23) review: The RTX 4070 laptop for gamers and creators

According to Schenker, the XMG Pro 16 Studio is a “professional workstation for content creation”. The specs fit: Core i9, an RTX 4070, Thunderbolt 4 and a 16:10 display (QHD+, 240 Hz). A vapor chamber supposedly ensures optimum heat dissipation and quiet cooling.

Schenker has introduced its Pro 16 Studio, a laptop for gamers and creators. Its installed Raptor Lake CPU can be supported by a GeForce RTX 4060 or an RTX 4070 — our test device is fitted with an RTX 4070. The present variant can be purchased for around US$2,400 and prices start from around US$1,900. The laptop can be individually configured and ordered via Schenker’s online store, bestware.com.

A Core i9-13900H and GeForce RTX 4070 equip the laptop for rendering, video and image editing, as well as for gaming. The CPU has access to 32 GB RAM (DDR5-5600, dual-channel mode). It is possible to expand the storage. The device can accommodate two PCIe 4 SSDs (M.2-2280). RAID-0/1 is supported.

The installed hardware can run current games smoothly on the matte display. Generally, you can use the full display resolution (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) and high to maximum settings. Higher resolutions would be possible with the corresponding display connected — however, with reduced settings. The Pro 16 features three video outputs (2x Displayport, 1x HDMI). The installed 16-inch display (16:10, IPS, 240 Hz, sRGB) left a good impression on us in total.

One battery charge (73 Wh) is enough to achieve WLAN runtimes of about 7 hours — in view of the battery’s size, this is quite a good result. Positive: You don’t necessarily have to carry the bulky 230-watt power with you all the time, as the laptop can also be charged via its Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port which supports Power Delivery.

Further information and benchmarks can be found in our review of the XMG Pro 16 Studio (Mid 23).
