WhatsApp Introduces Streamlined Community Creation in Latest Beta Update
The innovative enhancements from WhatsApp are far from over. A recent beta version for Android, released today for users participating in the Play Store’s WhatsApp beta test program, showcases yet another promising feature.
This latest update brings a minor yet significant improvement aimed at simplifying the process of establishing communities. Once this feature transitions out of beta and becomes available to all users, you will have the option to create a community directly from the chats tab by simply tapping on the hamburger menu (three vertical dots) located in the upper right corner and selecting “New Community.”
By tapping this menu button, you can also access options to initiate a new group chat, view starred messages, or navigate to Settings as illustrated in the accompanying screenshot. In terms of enhancing community creation efficiency, this change effectively reduces an extra step since it eliminates the need to initially visit the Communities tab before forming a new group.
A potential reason behind this adjustment could be linked to plans for replacing the Communities tab with one dedicated specifically to AI chatbots. As we move further into 2025, it appears that AI integration is becoming increasingly unavoidable. If such a transition occurs with regards to removing or altering functionalities pertaining to communities, then these updates would represent more than mere convenience improvements.
