A seasoned medical equipment manufacturer has launched a new head strap aiming to enhance comfort levels for users of the Apple Vision Pro headset.
As with many virtual reality and augmented reality headsets, extended wear of the Apple Vision Pro can lead to discomfort. The original strap design contributes to this issue, resulting in a thriving market for alternative accessories that provide better comfort.
On Thursday, ResMed entered this niche with its innovative Kontor Head Strap. While this isn’t their inaugural venture into headset straps, it marks their debut in crafting one specifically for the Apple Vision Pro.
Renowned for producing medical devices tailored towards conditions such as sleep apnea and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), ResMed specializes in designing masks compatible with CPAP machines—designed not only for efficacy but also comfort during overnight use.
Leveraging their extensive experience in medical-grade headgear manufacturing, ResMed has engineered a design focused on maximizing user comfort when utilizing the Apple Vision Pro.
The new Kontor Head Strap is crafted from proprietary materials developed by ResMed that prioritize skin-friendliness without compromising on support. Moreover, its design is informed by data gathered from thousands of 3D scans of heads and faces to ensure compatibility across varied user anatomies.
To optimize prolonged usage times, the strap includes modular counterweights that balance out the inherent weight distribution issues associated with front-heavy headsets.

Scheduled to be available through the Apple Online Store across markets including the U.S., U.K., and Australia, the Kontor Head Strap will retail at $119.95.
