Celebrating 20 Years of God of War: A Horizon of New Adventures
Sony marks the monumental 20th anniversary of the iconic God of War franchise with an array of exciting offerings spanning digital realms rooted in Norse mythology to collaborations with a Los Angeles art studio and your nostalgic record player. The centerpiece is Kratos’ formidable Dark Odyssey skin, an homage to one of gaming’s most memorable heroes. Previously, players had to endure grueling challenges on God Mode in God of War II, but now in 2025, all you need is a copy of God of War: Ragnarök.
Exclusive Gear for Gamers
The eagerly anticipated Dark Odyssey collection will be available as a complimentary update beginning March 20 for all players indulging in God of War: Ragnarök on PlayStation and PC. This update includes Kratos’ striking black and gold ensemble along with themed armor, weaponry, shields, and more for the Ghost of Sparta himself as well as Atreus and Freya.
If you’re still grinding through the game without enhancing your weapons fully, it’s worth noting that the Dark Odyssey skins are unlocked only after upgrading each weapon to its maximum potential. However, fans can look forward to a feature enabling customizations for weapon attachments and shield ronds.

A Treasure Trove Of Merchandise
The anniversary festivities also boast a plethora of merchandise including an exquisite collection of art prints (featuring work from artists like Ollie Hoff), a two-volume retrospective showcasing the franchise’s evolution since its inception in 2005, and an extensive soundtrack comprising 13 vinyl LPs celebrating two decades worthy adventures; interestingly enough this includes double LP soundtracks from the original Greek trilogy games for their first time!
No God of War event would be complete without showcasing Jörmungandr — featured below at an impressive 67 inches tall — complete with a magnetized tongue designed to hold onto its removable Leviathan Axe! While there isn’t currently any plush representation for Kratos himself available here (he may have met his fate against this undulating beast), it remains an impressive collectible.
