Exciting Enhancements in Meta’s Threads Application
The Threads app by Meta is rolling out a series of features reminiscent of Instagram to enrich user experience. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, has announced the introduction of a dedicated media tab, enabling users to showcase their posts featuring images and videos prominently.
As articulated by Mosseri, the addition of a media tab responds to persistent requests from users. Platforms such as X and Bluesky have already integrated similar sections for media on their user profiles, with Bluesky notably launching an exclusive video tab recently. Furthermore, Threads will incorporate photo tagging functionality that many Instagram enthusiasts will recognize. Users can easily search for fellow members’ handles while posting images and tag them directly; these tags will be visible to all viewers.

User Engagement Tools Updated
Mosseri also highlighted that Threads’ newly introduced markup tool is now accessible to all global users following its recent launch last week. This function allows individuals to draw or scribble on other users’ posts—adding a creative flair to interactions within the app.
Growing Popularity Amidst Competition
In response to escalating competition from services like Bluesky, Meta has significantly accelerated updates for Threads over the past few months. The company’s strategy includes adopting several feature highlights from its smaller competitor; thus far, it appears effective as evidenced by increasing engagement rates. Currently, Threads boasts an impressive 320 million monthly active users, with 100 million logging in daily according to statements made by Mosseri. In addition, Meta has initiated tests for its inaugural advertisements within the platform.
