The Best Battery Smartphones of 2022

The Best Battery Smartphones of 2022

|

Lithium polymer batteries usually are some of the most expensive components in most products. However, the expensive smartphones buck this trend, and therefore we ironically see the budget smartphone segment sporting the biggest battery capacities.

This year, the trend continued, with most of our nominees coming from the more modestly priced end of the smartphone spectrum. What’s more interesting is the trickling down of AMOLED displays, decent cameras, and capable hardware to go along with the massive batteries typical of such phones.

Samsung M33 5G – ₹16,700 6000mAh (Gold)

The Samsung M33 is a standout candidate for the best battery award partly owing to its impressive 6,000mAh battery and efficient hardware and software design. With this large battery, the M33 is able to deliver all-day battery life and can handle heavy usage without requiring frequent recharging. What’s more, the many OneUI optimizations further extend its battery life. It also helps that the phone has a great front camera sensor that nails skin tones

Tecno Pova 3 – ₹11,300 (4GB/64GB)/ 7000mAh (Silver)

Not even the combined battery capacities of two iPhone 14 Pro can rival that of the Tecno Pova 3. That’s hardly surprising when its 7000 mAh battery is more comparable to a power bank than a smartphone. What’s even more surprising is its modest price, while also delivering 33-watt fast charging capability. In fact, the bit about the phone being a power bank isn’t a hyperbole either. It actually supports reverse charging at a rate of 10 watts.

Motorola Moto G72 (Bronze)

A battery capacity of 5000 mAh doesn’t sound exactly impressive considering the rest of the nominees in this segment. However, the very point of a large battery is to extend the endurance of your smartphone. The Motorola Moto G72 achieves this objective with an impressive 8.5hrs+ screen on time thanks to a highly optimized Android fork. It also doesn’t hurt that the phone has the best display in its segment.

Poco M4 Pro 4G

The Poco M4 is another modestly priced phone packing in a versatile set of features and a great 5000 mAh battery life. It also helps that the large battery is complemented by a 33 watt charger that tops it up under an hour. Add one of the best form factors and in-hand feel in the segment and an affordable 90Hz AMOLED display that outperforms competitors with LCD screens, and you have one hell of a nominee.

Infinix Hot 20 Play

Not only does the Infinix Hot 20 Play ship with an ample 6000 mAh battery, but it also includes a modern looking punch hole display with 90Hz refresh rate in its modest price. While the 18-watt charging pales in comparison to other nominees here, and the in-box charger maxes out at 10 watts, the Hot 20 Play nevertheless delivers a lot for what it costs.
