An alarming statistic reveals that cyclists dispose of approximately 44,000 tonnes of bicycle tyres and inner tubes annually. Due to scarce recycling facilities, a significant proportion of this refuse ends up in landfills—where harmful substances like lead and zinc leach into soil—or is burned in incinerators that emit three tonnes of CO2 for each tonne of rubber treated.

To combat this pressing issue, Velorim aims to facilitate uncomplicated recycling methods catering specifically to cyclists. By collaborating with local bike shops through their established collection scheme, they are set on making tyre disposal straightforward and budget-friendly.
A Track Record of Success Since Launching Collections in 2020
Since commencing their collections three years ago, Velorim has successfully gathered over 150,000 used tyres and an equal number of inner tubes for processing.
