Pixel 7 Users Encounter Reboot Issues During Calls
Since the introduction of Google’s Pixel 7 smartphones a couple of years ago, recent findings from users involved in the Android 16 beta program have unveiled a troubling glitch: unexpected device reboots occurring predominantly while making voice calls.
Reports of Frequent Restarts
A number of Pixel 7 users have reported their devices rebooting unexpectedly during phone conversations, resulting in periods during which the phone is unusable until it completes restarting. One individual noted an alarming figure—out of ten calls made, their device rebooted four to five times in the middle of discussions. Another user shared that their phone experienced spontaneous reboots every three to seven minutes while on a call, leading to losses in their call records as well.
Affected Software Versions
This disruption seems linked to certain software builds, particularly BP22.250103.008 and other versions across various models within the Pixel 7 family. Fortunately for affected users, Google has recognized this situation on its issue tracker and classified it as a significant “P2” priority concern. A representative from Google addressed these issues by stating, “We have communicated this with our product and engineering teams and will provide updates when more information becomes available.”
Possible Solutions for Users
If you find yourself affected by this bug, one alternative is reverting back to the stable Android 15 release channel while you await resolution. This serves as a reminder that beta software can come with its share of bugs and issues.
The Nature of Beta Software Testing
Using beta software often exposes users to unresolved glitches like these; while it can be enticing to test new features prior to official releases, relying on such versions for everyday use might lead to experiences that detract from overall satisfaction with your device. Nonetheless, we are optimistic that Google will address this problem before officially launching Android 16; therefore, there’s no need for excessive concern at this time.
