LCBO cybersecurity incident may have exposed credit card knowledge, other personal info

Customers who bought from the Liquor Control Board of Ontario’s (LCBO) web site earlier this month may have had their personal data compromised by a nasty actor.

The LCBO says a celebration “embedded malicious code” on its web site that stole buyer data throughout checkout.

“Customers who provided personal information on our check-out pages and proceeded to our payment page on LCBO.com between January 5th, 2023, and January 10th, 2023, may have had their information compromised,” the corporate mentioned in a press launch.

The incident may have impacted names, emails, mailing addresses, Aeroplan numbers, credit card data and passwords to on-line LCBO accounts. The group didn’t share any additional specifics of the incident.

Anyone who both tried to position an order or efficiently paid for one through the said interval ought to monitor their statements for suspicious funds.

LCBO says its web site and cell app are restored and operational. All account holders will have to replace their passwords when logging in.
