A representative from the Belgian Prosecutor’s Office announced that an investigation is underway regarding initial allegations of active corruption, document forgery, and money laundering involving the European Parliament. These allegations suggest that bribery activities may have favored the Chinese technology firm Huawei.

EU Commission Stays Silent Amid Concerns
In a related context, representatives from the European Commission have opted not to provide commentary on this ongoing investigation. However, spokesperson Thomas Regnier reiterated significant security concerns associated with Huawei’s involvement and its impact on Europe’s 5G telecommunications infrastructure.
According to Regnier: “Huawei poses significantly greater risks compared to other 5G providers,” urging member states within the EU to consider measures possibly restricting or barring Huawei’s participation in their 5G network deployments.
