Google Enhances Visual Search in Chrome and its iOS App
Google is set to introduce a feature reminiscent of Circle to Search, but under the branding “Search Screen with Google Lens” for users on iOS. This new functionality will be integrated into both the Chrome browser and the Google app on Apple’s mobile operating system.
Users will find this feature listed in the three-dot menu accessible within Chrome and the Google app for iOS. Selecting it allows users to utilize various gestures that feel most comfortable, such as sketching, emphasizing, or clicking directly on content.
Limitations Compared to Android
A significant limitation arises from this implementation: unlike Android’s Circle to Search which can function across all apps, this visual search capability operates solely within Chrome and the Google application on iOS devices. Naturally, due to Apple’s restrictions, comprehensive system-wide usage isn’t feasible.
