Vivo Set to Introduce New Sub-Brand: Jovi
In the competitive landscape of smartphone manufacturing, Chinese brands frequently develop sub-brands to target specific segments of the market. Examples include Redmi, Poco, iQOO, and Realme. Recently, vivo has been progressing towards its own new sub-brand called Jovi.
The Rise of Jovi
The name “Jovi” may ring a bell; it has previously been associated with vivo’s AI assistant and various system applications. However, this time around, it appears that Jovi is evolving into a standalone brand for smartphones.
Insights from GSMA Database
Recent disclosures from the GSMA database (linked to the GSM Association but unrelated to our reporting) indicate that three forthcoming devices will sport the Jovi branding:
- Jovi V50: Model number V2427
- Jovi V50 Lite 5G: Model number V2440
- Jovi Y39 5G: Model number V2444
A noteworthy detail is that the model numbers for both the Jovi V50 and vivo’s upcoming V50 match up seamlessly; this pattern holds true as well for their Lite variants. This suggests that initial offerings under the Jovi brand could simply be rebranded versions of existing products—potentially made available in select regions only.
Caution About Future Developments
This information should be taken with a grain of caution as plans are subject to change; nothing is confirmed until an official announcement occurs. Although historical data from entities like GSMA tends to be reliable, vivo retains discretion over whether or not they proceed with introducing smartphones under the Jovi brand since no definitive product reveals have happened yet.
