After several months of dedicated effort, I am thrilled to announce the exciting upgrades made to our NSO reservable sandbox and the NSO Always-On sandbox. These environments serve as invaluable tools on your automation journey, providing a quick setup for testing innovative ideas. The most notable aspect? Both NSO sandboxes are completely free! Simply click the Launch button to make your reservation and you’re equipped to start right away.
A Closer Look at Our Latest Upgrades
Exploring the NSO Always-On Sandbox
The NSO Always-On sandbox has been successfully transitioned to the official container provided by NSO. This transition allows us greater control, ensuring that the environment remains consistently available while streamlining updates and management processes.
Additionally, we have installed an NSO router package derived from built-in examples in NSO alongside Netsim devices, creating a foundational testing environment.
This particular sandbox operates as a read-only platform, ideal for initial explorations or simple tests such as API calls that sync devices with NSO. If you’re seeking an interactive space where you can experiment freely, keep reading!
Diving into the Reservable Sandbox
The reservable sandbox is your playground for experimentation—whether it’s testing new concepts or troubleshooting existing ones. You now have access to three instances of System installation through this solution, perfect for High Availability scenarios among other use cases.
The magic lies in utilizing the official container from NSO which enables us to incorporate all essential packages and configurations directly at launch time—ensuring preconfigured stability whenever you start a session.

CML Topology Enhancements
But that’s not all—the CML topology has also undergone significant updates! You can now explore a redesigned topology featuring multiple network devices mirroring both development and production environments seamlessly.
User interaction with these devices is straightforward; connect via TELNET or SSH or interact through NOS itself, as each instance carries basic configuration necessary for operations.
This setup serves exceptionally well when implementing pipelines where development is tested before moving on to production deployment steps.
Upgraded GitLab Integration
This upgrade also includes enhancements within GitLab; we’ve boosted its performance by integrating a newer version complete with demo projects graciously provided by Cisco’s CSS CX Automation team along with an operational GitLab runner ready for use in building CI/CD pipelines—with an example tutorial coming soon!
