Closure of Apple’s Northbrook Court Retail Store: A New Chapter Begins
Apple has announced the definitive shutdown of its retail outlet situated within the Northbrook Court shopping center, located near Chicago. This revelation comes from an official statement released today, where the closing date for this particular location remains unspecified.
This store was established in 2005 and expanded to a more spacious setting within the mall in 2017.
The tech giant assured that employees impacted by this closure would maintain their positions within other Apple stores. In their statement, Apple expressed: “Our commitment at Apple has always been to deliver unparalleled experiences for every one of our customers. Due to changing redevelopment plans at Northbrook Court Mall and the exit of various retailers, we faced the tough choice to close our store there. We have cherished our time serving the Northbrook community over nearly two decades. Our talented team members will continue their journey with us at other locations while we invite customers to visit any of our eight establishments across Chicagoland or connect with us online via Apple.com and through the Apple Store app.”
The Declining Trend at Northbrook Court
Unfortunately, Northbrook Court is often perceived as a struggling shopping venue; several renowned retailers have ceased operations there over recent years—the most recent being Lululemon just last month.
A Broader Context: Apple’s Retail Strategy Shift
This closure follows Apple’s early closures last year of its Infinite Loop and Royal Hawaiian locations; however, it’s noteworthy that since then they have broadened their global presence with new store openings including locations in Miami Worldcenter and The Exchange TRX in Malaysia. Furthermore, plans are underway for an upcoming shop opening in Downtown Detroit.
