- Cities Designed for Well-being: Enhancing urban environments can curtail available space for vehicles significantly; this shift has been linked with measurable reductions in national car mobility rates. Evidence shows that residents of major Dutch cities have reduced their per capita vehicle use by one-fourth since early this century.
- Affordability and Accessibility of Public Transit: An increase in public transportation ridership—potentially up to fifty percent—can translate into a modest decrease (1–2%) in individual automobile use.

Contrary to common assumptions held within policy frameworks expecting increasing driving costs will diminish future automobile utilization significantly; it appears such financial burdens might not drastically alter consumer behavior regarding personal transport methods going forward due predominantly because driving expenses remain relatively low or subjectively manageable through selection of economical alternatives available among consumers today.
