In a recent survey, we asked our readers to choose their top flagship smartphones for 2024. The feedback is clear: Samsung has made a remarkable impression this year.
Classic Bar Smartphones Take Center Stage
The first category focused on traditional bar-style smartphones, where the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra emerged as the overwhelming favorite, capturing an impressive one-third of the total votes. This model stood out prominently amongst its competitors. Following behind were the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and vivo X200 Pro, which garnered approximately 9% and 8.9% of votes respectively. Both devices earned their spot but were unable to match Samsung’s dominance in popularity. Additionally, props go to Google Pixel 9 Pro and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max for earning honorable mentions with votes at around 8% and just under 8% respectively—significant numbers yet insufficient compared to the leader.

A Closer Look at Horizontal Foldable Phones
The horizontal foldable segment saw intense competition, more so than other categories this year. Once again, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 clinched first place by a narrow margin over Honor Magic V3, securing a solid base of support among voters. In third position was Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate—the first tri-fold smartphone—which attracted about 12.4% of total votes cast in this category. Moreover, the Google Pixel Fold deserves recognition for gathering around 11.6%. Interestingly enough, while both it and Huawei’s offering have limited market availability, their ambitions differ greatly; notably though is that Galaxy Z Fold Special only managed about an underwhelming share of just over eight percent.
The Popularity Contest in Flip Foldables
In another win for Samsung within flip foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip6 claimed victory with slightly more than one-third of all votes tallied—a commendable lead considering its rivals’ performance although not as commanding as that seen with its horizontal counterpart Noses closely chased by Motorola Razr+ (50 Ultra), which gathered about twenty-two point nine percent support while Xiaomi Mix Flip sealed off third place.
